Countdown to Vacation

We are going to the beach soon and today I've been in SuperMom mode and printing coloring and activity pages to make into a coloring book for Bryant to use during the 6-7 hour drive.  The drive I am not looking forward to AT ALL.  I might need a Valium for this ride.  We drove with Bryant to Mississippi when he wthas around 16 months old and it was pure torture.  Besides the never-ending watching of Thomas the Train and Blue's Clues, we got to Mississippi like at two in the morning with a very cranky and wide awake child.  It was a long night.

Speaking of Thomas the Train this past weekend we took Bryant to see and ride on Thomas the Train...is it totally weird of me to have gotten tears in my eyes at the sight of my child's hero??  Who knows how i would react to seeing Lightening McQueen!! I'd probably faint!  If I met Owen Wilson though, i might just punch him right in the face.

I have a few crafts planned for the weeks leading up to the beach trip as kind of a learning oppurtunity to learn about ocean life/creatures.  I want to take advantage of every situation for him to learn as much as possible. I have a feeling that he is gifted and i want to encourage and not overdo it.  I am so scared I will jinx it or something by being overbearing which I most certainly am on some occassions.  Things like this have to be treated delicately for lack of a better word.  They need to be nurtured...Anyway i may just be being one of those moms who thinks their kid does no wrong and poops rainbows and such.  He absolutely does not poop rainbows I must assure you.

Speaking of which, potty training is going pretty well.  He pees/poops with regularity on a daily basis but as soon as the diaper comes off and the Big Boy Britches go on, its a peeing, pooping free-for-all.  I think he's just interested in the novelty of it.  Let me say though that watching him try to pee standing up is extremely comical.  Its like a sprinkler.

The only bad part of this trip is we're leaving on the last day of the library's preschool reading program and its graduation day that day.  It makes me incredibly sad to miss that because the library has been a very important part of our life for the last several months.  A summer reading program will be starting soon but bigger kids will be there too and unforunately our library is very small and its already slightly chaotic and crowded with just preschoolers and their Big People.  We are still going to go because our library has a wonderful librarian. You can tell that she lives her life for our little library and has so much pride in it.  I just love her.

Well anyway, hopefully i'll be posting more regularly in the next week or so.  Just getting me to sit down and do something productive other than folding socks is hard to accomplish.

Everyone have a great day and  week!!
